Amaro gets his guy

30 Jul

Ruban Amaro pulled off another big deal as the Phillies send 2 highly rated prospects (Cosart,Singleton) and 2 mid level prospects to The Houston Astros for Hunter Pence and cash. This most likely means the Dominic Brown will be sent back down to Lehigh to get some well needed playing time. He just too raw for the big leagues right now. Expect Pence to be in the lineup tonight as The Phillies take on the Pirates at 7:05 in Citizens Bank Park.

There were reports that Dominc Brown’s name was thown into the hat at some point and included a possible 3rd party trade. Those reports were false. Dominic Browns name wasn’t involved in any of the discussions. He’s the one piece that Amaro won’t part with. The Phillies vision him as their left fielder for years and years to come. He’s very raw but at only 23 years old he is still 2 years younger then when Utley and Howard made their big league debuts.

Why Pence makes sense!

The Phillies and Astros are getting closer to a deal for Hunter Pence. From all reports it appears that the Phillies are going to send top pitching prospect Cosart and top hitting prospect Jonathan Singleton along with another mid level prospect to Houston for Hunter Pence. This should make Phillies fans very happy as they won’t have to part with fan favorite Vance Worley or highly touted Dominic Brown.

Its no secret that the Phillies are in desperate need of a full time right handed bat in right field and Pence seems to be a perfect fit for Philadelphia. His hard nosed blue collar style will play well in Philly. He’ll also be hitting behind Ryan Howard which will surely boost his numbers.

If all pans out and this deal gets done then its a great deal for the Phillies. Let’s wait and see!
